To Be Oprah...
Oprah has power.
Everything she does is watched by the world and admired. She is denied access to a jewelry store in France, the nation is horrified, and an apology is required of the shop owners.
Last week she had a show on finding the right bra. At the beginning of the show, in the way of an introduction, she told the viewers at home to take off their shirts, look down, and examine their own bras. Although I didn't do it, I felt strongly compelled to obey! After all, Oprah told me to! I laughed to myself wondering how many women, at that moment, were looking at their breasts.
Yesterday was Oprah’s Favorite Things show. This is my favorite show every year because I wish I could be there receiving all of those gifts! Anyway, after the show was over, there was a special on the local news about how and where we can buy the products Oprah talked about. The news anchor then said, “Here are the products to buy this season because Oprah told you to.” (emphasis mine) That cracked me up!
I wonder what it would be like to have that much power?
What would I tell people to do? Hmm… :)
